Dubai is the second largest emirate in UAE. It is located in the middle part of Arabian peninsula, on south of Arabian gulf, in the center of Bay area. It is off the ocean coast to the South Asian Sub-Continent. People say It is the jewel of the bay. Dubai is famous for the half ocean and half desert sight, along with the tax-free environment, this city has attracted thousands of visitors.
Although, Dubai is a relatively open city, there are some things need to be mentioned. For example pork, dog meat and alcohol are forbidden here; people are not allowed to wear exposing garment. Weather is very hot here, months from April and November are touring time, the other months in a year are always hot. The Max temperature can reach 50℃. Dirham is the local currency, the exchanging rate to dollar is 3.65. One Dirham equals to 2 RMB approximately. Small amount of Dirham is always suggested to be taken with you as to take taxi and have dinner conveniently. You can find the currency exchanging place in most of shopping malls, and the exchanging rate is same as the bank. If you exchange in the hotel, the rate will be a little bit lower. The first choice to go outside is taxi, Taxi fee is similar to China city Shenzhen. Here is no change if you take taxi, and extra 2-3 tip is always suggested..
Highest Hotel in the World
Atlantis Hotel, Located in the artificial Palm Island, the symbol of luxury. It is hard to imagine how Arabians fill the sea and build this hotel. It is fantastic if you can have buffet dinner here.
This scene that you can just watch in TV, now it is right in front of you, exciting isn’t it?
Hard to build a city on a desert
Christina shows the vigor of the desert : )
This is the first time to a West Asia country. Like many European countries, Dubai’s streets are very clean and tidy, just as our city: Zhangjiagang. There are cleaners all around the malls, so it is not strange that the women’s black robe always keep clean even it drags on the ground. To keep clean like this is especially not easy for a country built on a desert.
Driving speed is always fast here, in the downtown, speed is limited to 120 miles per hour. Taxis usually reach 100 miles. Though traffic is very heavy during rush hours, the driving order is often in good condition. Unless you turn fork in the road, you can rarely see the road merging. Also, the police are rarely seen in the street.
When there are pedestrian crossing the street, cars will be stopped. This is the point where Chinese should learn.
By now my business and cultural trip has well completed in Dubai.
